Authorities spent over 12 hours searching for a suspect following a shooting Monday night at a rural residence northeast of Ponce de Leon.

Deputies were dispatched at 8:58 p.m. on December 8 to a home on Timberline Road, where they found a 63-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the area on foot. Stone County deputies, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Christian County deputies conducted an extensive search, at initial time of reporting, suspect had not been captured..

As of 11 am authorities confirmed to have the suspect, Mathew Washington, 43, of Crane, in custody.
