Stone County and Christian County deputies are investigating two deaths following a shots-fired call in the West Finley Drive area of Nixa on Thursday night.
According to a release from Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 9:20 p.m. on September 24. Upon arrival, they found a 60-year-old man dead in the driveway of a residence. After clearing the home, deputies set up a perimeter and began searching the surrounding area.
During the search, deputies heard another gunshot from the woods behind the residence. A short time later, they located a second deceased man, 50, in the wooded area. Investigators believe his death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Stone County detectives responded to process the scene. Based on evidence collected, investigators believe the two men knew each other and had been involved in some type of altercation before the shootings.
Sheriff Rader also corrected information he provided during an interview the previous night, clarifying that the homeowner was not the first victim found in the driveway — he was the second man, found later in the woods.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
