Crane High School will host a Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive on Friday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school’s gym lobby, 209 Pirate Lane in Crane.
All donors will receive a free T-shirt and two admissions to Dickerson Park Zoo while supplies last. Beyond helping meet the blood needs of local hospitals, donations made through school blood drives also count toward CBCO’s High School Donorship Program, which provides participating schools with support that can be used for student scholarships. The program is based on the total number of successful donations collected through a school’s blood drives during the year.
CBCO says nearly 40% of the donations it collects annually come from high school students. The organization also emphasizes that donated blood stays local, helping patients in area hospitals, and successful donors receive a free health check that includes cholesterol screening.

Donors should bring photo identification and are encouraged to eat well and drink plenty of fluids before donating.
