In a press release from the Crane Police Department, it says that an officer was on patrol when he spotted an individual running from an alleyway near the intersection of Rose Ave. and Main St. at 2:00 am on August 9.

The report says that the officer attempted to stop the individual to investigate and the individual began running down the alley behind Main St businesses.

The officer was able to catch up to the individual and apprehend them, and again attempted to break away and flee from the officer.

The officer was able to detain the individual and identify her as Peggy Cassandra Schofield, of Aurora.

After consenting to a search, the officer found methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia inside Ms. Schofield’s backpack.

Ms. Schofield is currently being held on Stone County jail on the following charges:

  • POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE PRECURSORS
  • FAIL/REFS OBY/RESIST LEO/FIRE
  • RES/INT W/ARREST DET STOP
